Since moving to Los Angeles I've published seven books (three poetry, one novel, one book of translations, and two books of cowgirl poetry). My poems, essays, and reviews have appeared in many journals and anthologies, but I'm particularly happy to be included in The Nation's Poets Against the War. I still teach at LMU, where Chuck and I have developed a program called Syntext which involves traveling with writing students all over southern California (we even took it to India one semester), and training writing students to conduct creative writing workshops in various non-academic communities in Los Angeles.

The whole cowgirl thing, well, that was a lark, and it turned out that Molly Bendall and I had a really good time doing it. We've recently finished a chapbook together but they're avant-garde, not cow, poems. It's called Bling and Fringe, as yet unpublished.

I live in Topanga Canyon, a beautiful and still rustic place north of Los Angeles, with Chuck, Marlena, a dog, three cats, a snake, a frog, and a pet rat named Ratsky.
